ABOUT US
Assisi Asha Deep is a Charitable Society registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1961. Under this Society, there are two Special Schools:
(1) Assisi Asha Deep Special School for the Mentally Handicapped.Amravati, and
(2) Assisi Asha Niketan, Special School for the M.H, Aurangabad.
Assisi Asha Deep is a Special School exclusively for persons who are Mentally Handicapped. The School was established in the year 2000.It is a day-school. Initially, there were only 17 students, but now there are 50 students supported by 4 Special Teachers, two craft teachers and part-time teachers for music, sports, speech and physiotherapy.With the systematic teaching programme, an individual with mild Mental Retardation can achieve as high as 5th or 6th grade level in reading, writing and arithmetic.For profound cases, training in activities of daily living includes basic skills like eating, toileting, dressing & undressing, brushing etc. By providing opportunities, they achieve mastery of self-care skills.
The main aim of Asha Deep is to make the children independent in all the levels. Here, they get ample opportunities to improve their inborn talents and abilities.The students are trained to participate in competitions such as Sports, Drama, Dance, Drawing & Painting etc. Seminars and classes are conducted for parents, relatives, well-wishers and other members of the Society so that they may be aware of the causes of Mental Retardation. Also this is aimed at making the parents aware of the child with special needs and facilitate their growth.
FACILITIES OFFERED
Assisi Asha Deep is a day-care center.The students from 4 to 18 years are trained in the school section.Those above 18 years, are provided Vocational Training. These Special children by providing individual attention and care, can play musical instruments, do drawing & painting and play different outdoor and indoor games.
1. Speech and language training.
2. Physiotherapy and yoga practice.
3. Psychological Assessment
4. Training by different learning materials/equipments like computer.
5. Music classes.
6. Transport facilities.
BENEFECIARIES
Under this project, 20 children are being benefited with immediate implementation of the special software.

ACTIVITIES / ACHIEVEMENT
1. Awareness programmes.
2. Exhibition and sale of products made by the Mentally Handicapped students.
3. Home based Rehabilitation.
4. Community based rehabilitation.
5. Assisi Asha Deep participated in the district level drama competition held in Amravati for various types of handicapped children and got the certificate in 2004.
6. Ku. Surekha received the award for the best character in the drama.
