ABOUT US

Dakshinya is a Voluntary Service Organization registered in 1995 under Society Registration Act 1981. The sufferings of Dakshinya's Founder & Chairman helped to develop the Institution into the present status where it is one of the recognized service organization by the government. The journey of Dakshinya starts in 1995 with 5 children & 2 teacher in a small rented building and developed in all spheres to the present position of 264 children, 74 Staff members and own building of 17,000 sft. in a campus of 3 acre land. The sole aim of Dakshinya is to provide integrated rehabilitation to the needy Mentally Retarded (M.R) children to transform their "dis-ability into ability", so as to try for their sustainability in the society both socially and economically. In addition to the services provided in the Institution, Dakshinya also extends the services on non-institutional basis through its Home Based Rehabilitation Programme to the Mentally Retarded children who cannot reach the institutional services mainly due to longer distance from the Special Schools / Rehabilitation centers, difficulty in mobility during transportation and their poor economic conditions. It also provides common platform to the parents of M.R. Children and the professional for better understanding and to get maximum output for the welfare of the children. It has acquired necessary infrastructure and developed into a leading training cum research institution in the disabled sector.

The activities of Dakshinya includes: Assessment & Diagnostic Services, Counselling Services, Home Based Training, Early Intervention, Day Care, Pre-Vocational Training, Vocational Training, Residential Care Home, Remedial Education, Integrated Education, Caregivers Training, Training for Family Members and Workshops & Seminars.

FACILITIES OFFERED


Dakshinya is commited to work for the rehabilitation of the Mentally Retarded Children who cannot ask or express their minimum needs. Tuning to the needs of these Special children, Dakshinya has been developed and gained expertise in all concerned activities/departments and at present it extends the following facilities like:
