PROJECT SMART (Software for Mental Acceleration And Resource Training)

Children working on Special Software

This is one of our major projects. Launched since 2004, on a nation wide scale. It aims to Integrate Information Technology to serve the educational needs of Mentally Challenged children. The project involves donating a Computer System and Special Software to the deserving Special schools. Further a Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Care 'N' Cure and the school to work together in this area for the benefit of Special children. Training is also provided in this project to Special educators in using the Special software. A kit is given to the Special school, which includes licensed software, Computer, accessories and a Software Manual with basic guidelines about working of software.

At present, we have 297 partners from-24 states and 3 Union territory of India.

Project SMART-Technology Aided Learning for Special Schools:
There is very little software that exists for Mentally Challenged special children. Softwares which are available abroad are not suitable for our country. Most of the special schools also do not have Computer systems to carry out such a programme for children. Keeping this in mind, Care 'N' Cure has started approaching schools from all over India to join Project SMART for the benefit of their children.
Objective:
Project SMART aims to empower all special schools handling Mentally Challenged Children with Information Technology Aided Education. I.T. can greatly benefit children who are mentally challenged. We have already developed a series of Special software packages, which will help them to learn both basic and advanced educational & survival skills. Many more packages have been planned and are currently under development.
Scope of Project SMART
Project SMART is targeted to be implemented in 200 Institutions in its first phase by which about 10,000 Mentally Challenged Children will be benefited. At present, it is implemented in 93 Institutions across the nation already benefiting more than 5,000 Mentally Challenged children. This project also aims to extend its services in the areas of hearing impaired and low vision sector at a later date.
