ABOUT US
Partner Hooghly was formed in1993 under the active guidance of Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra (PKK), a well-recognized Institution of the district Hooghly in West Bengal. About 40 parents came together to start Partner Hooghly and at present, we have about 70 parents and 30 well-wishers looking after 65 children affected by Mental Handicap.
Our goal is to enhance the understanding of parents and family members of persons with Mental disability. To spread awareness among general public about Mental Retardation and to evolve them in developmental process of these affected persons and henceforth our organization. To ensure the social security of the Mentally Handicapped persons and provide various vocational training and help them to become productive and participatory members of the society to their best ability.
FACILITIES OFFERED
Partner Hooghly started with parents sharing their views and despairs about their Mentally Challenged children. We have joined hands to impart training to these individuals through day care center, housing vocational training and sheltered workshop. We aim to establish a permanent rehabilitation center and provide residential facilities to the affected persons. We also enhance the process of social integration of children with special needs through various awareness programmes.
Facilities provided are:
i. A sheltered workshop & Vocational Training Center with the following products: Rakhi, Spice packaging, food processing such as Jam, Jelly, Squash, Pickles, Sauces etc.
ii. A day-care Center for persons with severe handicap.
iii. Sports Clinic at the community level.
iv. Seminar & workshop to stress upon important aspects concerning the children/persons with Mental Handicap, their social & legal rights in particular.
v. Parent to Parent Counseling.
vi. Networking, advocacy & lobbying.
vii. Awareness campaigns.
viii. Organizing integrated events.
ACTIVITIES / ACHIEVEMENT
We are trying to decentralize our activities, put up units region wise, so that the affected persons do not have to travel a long way to participate in trainings at other areas.
