ABOUT US
Prem Ashram is a non - profit voluntary organization registered in 1976 under "Society Registration Act -1860". It is run by the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. Our congregation was founded by Fr. Peter Joseph Triest in Belgium in 1803 and established in Dalhousie in 1901, commissioned to reveal that GOD is LOVE. The Sisters value the Ministry of education for helping individuals to discover their dignity as human being and children of God and bring about a Society based on Love, Justice and Peace to be an important expression of their mission.
Special education for the Mentally Challenged children occupies a unique place in the larger vision and mission of the congregation. Following the footsteps of their founder, Fr. Triest, who had a special concern for the Mentally Retarded children of his time, the SCJM continues to respond to the needs of the Mentally Challenged and Multiple Handicapped children with total commitment and devotion.
It began in 1971 with a lone child named "Buchi". At Present, we have 102 children supported by 33 dedicated staff round the clock. We provide expert services like Rehabilitation Practitioner, Pediatricians, Special educator, and Psychologist for our children. Our Aims and objectives are following: -
1. To enable and empower Mentally Challenged children to live an independent life as fully as possible.
2. To empower parents of children with disability.
3. To work within the community by giving Awareness, Screening, Identification and Prevention of Disability.
Our motto is - "Leave no one behind on the way to light".
