ABOUT US
Thava Jeevan Trust has been registered under Trust Act at Thanjavur.It is an Organisation of Social Service and is devoted entirely to the upliftment and welfare of the children who are Mentally Retarded and Physically Handicapped. It's vision is to use all the modern methods of social service to bring up the children who are affected Mentally and Physically, both in the Urban and Rural areas to live happily as normal children.

Thava Jeevan Trust is running a Special school in the name of Thava Jeevan for the Mentally Retarded and Physically Handicapped Children, both boys and girls who are in the age group of 3 years to 16 years at "Thava Illam", 2949/2, Kavadickkara Street, East Gate, Thanjavur-1 since Sept.1998.It is only a Day Care school which has been recognised by the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu.So far, it did not get any subervention from the State and Central Govt.

Specially qualified teachers are working in school with the sole motive of service. At present, 28 Retarded children are attending the school with the help of Ayahs. The School is situated in a downtrodden area.The parents of the children are daily wage earners only.

1. Free midday meals and uniforms are provided.

2. Tution Fees are not collected but donations are accepted.

3. Mild Mentally Retarded Children are admitted in Educable section.

4. Moderate Mentally Retarded children in the Trainable Section.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANISATION

1.To provide Education Opportunity for Mentally Retarded Children.

2. To prepare Mentally Retarded Children for Domestic skills.

3.To develop programme suitable for every M.R Children.

FACILITIES OFFERED

It being a Day Care School, Midday meals are provided to the M.R & P.H students.

ACTIVITIES / ACHIEVEMENT



1. Thava JeevanTrust is giving education to drop out students,both boys and girls who are in the age group between 5 years to 13 years in the Rural areas, i.e Bridge Course in 8 centres under the Scheme of Education to all movements, at Thanjavur.

2. Ganesan, aged 17years-Mild Retardation was slow in action at the time of admission in 1999. But now, he goes to his grand father's scrape shop to help him and receive money from the customers.

3. Anandraj & Saravanakumar aged 14years and 15years do all their domestic and personal work without any help.They write their names in English and Tamil but cannot read as they are dumb.

We need a mini van at present.On rainy days, it is very difficult for us to bring the M.R & P.H children walking to Special School. If they walk in the rain water, they will be affected by FITS.For conveyance we need a four wheeler vehicle.
