Vidya Vikasini Opportunity School was started in 1981 by the Vidya Vikasini Society with just four children over 25 years, it has grown to accommodate 85 students at present supported by Occupational Therapist, Special Educators, Arts & Craft teachers, Physical Instructors etc. Its main focus is to integrate the Special children with normal in School as well as in the Community. The Institution also extend its services in Early Intervention Centres - Rural Areas and Training for students with Multiple Disabilities.

Vidya Vikasini Opportunity School has PERMANENT RECOGNITION - Recognized by State Govt. - State Commissioner under Rc. No. 2581/SS.III.2003 dt. 26.03.2003. National Trust has selected our School as Information Centre of National Trust for the awareness of the activities and concessions by Government.

ACTIVITIES / ACHIEVEMENT

1. Early Detection & Intervention Centre.

2. Community Based Care Giver's Course (5th Batch) - sponsored by National Trust, New Delhi.

3. A Residential School under Sarva Siksha Abhyan for Handicap and Dropout students. (2nd Batch).

4. Siruthuli project.

5. SGSY - A shop is run under this scheme for sale of products made by the Mentally Handicapped

6. Bridge Courses - Sponsored by Rehabilitation Council of India.

7. Awareness cum Training package programme for parents sponsored by Rehabilitation Council of India & Indira Gandhi National Open University.

8. Awareness programmes about Mental Retardation in All India Radio and other medias.

9. Pre - School Teacher Training Programme (Integration) 23rd Batch.

ACHIEVEMENT:

i) Many of our students have got placement in various centers.

ii) 8 of our students after completion of their education in this Institution are working as employees in our Vocational centre.iii) 3 of our students passed X std. In NIOS syllabus.

b. National Award - 1996 "Outstanding Employer of the Handicapped" received from President of India, New Delhi on 3rd December 1996

c. Received National Award for BEST INSTITUTION from President of India, New Delhi in Public Recognition of its Outstanding Performance in the field of Welfare of persons with Disabilities on 3rd December 2003.
